Mrs. Maxine Patrick Watson, 82
Died:
June 30, 2010, in Tyler, Texas

Maxine Patrick Watson, born April 28, 1928 in Mt. Sylvan, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Maxine was in the class of 1945 at Lindale High School. In 1950 she met the love of her life, Malcolm, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tyler. They married on December 22, 1951 and their love grew stronger with each passing year.

Maxine and Malcolm resided in Waco from 1953 to 1963 where they were charter members of Hillcrest Baptist Church. They then lived in Dallas for 38 years where they raised four children. She was a faithful member of Casa View Baptist Church all of those years. She taught Sunday School, led many children's activities, and was noted for her skill as pitcher of the ladies softball team. Maxine loved spreading the Gospel and went on several mission trips, including England, Ecuador and the Phillippines. Maxine and Malcolm also travelled together throughout the U.S.

For many years Maxine volunteered at hospitals and nursing homes including Doctor's Hospital, Autumn Leaves and Ryburn, all in Dallas, and most recently at Colonial Nursing Home in Lindale. They retired to Hideaway Lake in 2001 and joined First Baptist Church of Lindale where she became well-known for her delicious Hummingbird cakes. She enjoyed playing dominos, solving jigsaw puzzles, fishing, bowling, and spending time with her family.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Lois Patrick, her twin brother Max and her sisters Hazel, Juanita, and Betty Jean. She is survived by her husband of 58+ years, Malcolm Watson Sr.; daughter Beverly Watson of Rockwall, son Malcolm Watson Jr. of Richardson and wife Cheryl; daughter Cindy Burr of Dallas and husband David; son Patrick Watson of Austin and wife Grace; sisters Frances Edmondson and Clara Freeman, all of Tyler; and sister-in-law Anita Patrick of Denton. She leaves eight grandchildren: Amanda and Steven Moore, Phillip Watson, Laura Watson Ballew, Rebecca Watson Cullen, Marcy and Tracy Burr, and Callen Sefcik; four great-grandchildren: Tatum Moore and Madison, Tyler and Carter Ballew; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones.

Services will be held 11 AM on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Lindale with burial to follow at Mt. Sylvan Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale. Bro. Bill Tisdale, Rev. Tom Buck, & Elwood McElveen will lead the service. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 11 AM service time on Saturday at the Lindale First Baptist Church Welcome Center. Red was Maxine's favorite color and wearing red to the service would be a fitting way to honor her.
